Hi! I would like some clarification by anyone who will take the time to listen and from people that have experienced this. I was under the impression that if a player is NOT in the hand when there is action on the table, they are to keep quiet regarding anything to do with the cards in play or mucked. If this is true, do you fel that there should be a warning from the dealer at the table for that person(s) to keep quiet? Input is greatly appreciated!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are 100% correct in your assumption Randy. If the TD did not hear this "talk" that you are referring to, call them over and make it know. You can also have a private talk with the TD so that they know of this ongoing problem so that they can address it to all players before the start of the next game, or even make a special announcement during the game. Then after players have been warned they can't complain when they do it again and get railed. ----------

YES, shut up already everyone...also hand gestures big sighs, or "oh man I want my cards back", should be curtailed..maintain a pokerface... your reactions influences others. ----------

Yes if the dealer is running the table and sees or hears it then they can address the issue but some dealers are a lot more passive then others and in those cases the TD needs to be called for like Doc said... ----------

The dealer needs to take charge of the situation, always. If the dealer lacks any leadership abilities than they shouldnt be dealing. I am sorry but the dealer needs to be the biggest voice at the table. they need to run it the way it should be run and if they cant have someone else do it.

dealers are volunteers and are also playing, they are not the cops, we are supposed to be adults we should police ourselves. ----------

Its funny, but when I am in a hand, I don't mind seeing or hearing people react because it gives me information on what my opponent might be holding. But when I am out of a hand, I want people to be quiet to be fair to the players in the hand.
And the dealer should not be the loudest or the only voice at the table when it comes to enforcing a rule.

I never meant to say we as "dealers" are the cops but the facts are in a free poker league your gonna have different levels of dealers and players...Some will take more control then others will...but then again certain players are more vocal then a lot others too..it's just something we all live with that choose to play. The mindset unless a trophy challenge is involved is that I am there to see my friends and get to play a few hands in the process works well. ----------

and that Doc is exactly why you shouldn't talk or react, you are giving away information, especially if your not in the hand.
I agree dave i stopped expecting to play stellar poker in RDPL a long time ago, sometimes we get a good final table, and that can be fun until speed rounds anyway, But I come to hang out with my friends and socialize.

Can you clarify what you mean by "stopped expecting to play stellar poker...."?
What exactly is stellar poker? Does that mean you think there is one way to play poker?
Personally, I think the poker I play is greatly influenced by the other players at the table.
And I define playing stellar poker as the playing the poker that will help me beat them.

sure... Stellar Poker: where two or more players are playing to win, preferably a worthwhile prize, and don't call a big raise because, what the heck its free, where people try and get better, and try to learn the odds, and make smart calls, and bets, where players don't feel it's funny to suck out with 9-2 off suit. a poker where people follow the rules of the game, get their blinds and antes out in a timely fashion, without having to be reminded hand after hand after hand, by the dealer. a poker, where players don't think any two cards have an equal chance of winning, or don't believe "you don't know what you got until you get to the river", or believe bluffing is the best way to win and bluff big 40% of the time.
yes Doc T there are different styles of play, but there are a lot of ways to make the game less enjoyable for players who play good solid poker, and a few of the players in RDPl have found them all...lol..of course every time I think that a new one pops up.
also a good tournament structure, where you start with an amount of chips, that allows for a loss without essentially being eliminated if you lose one big hand early, a tournament structure without speed rounds at the final table, our tournaments are short stack, speed tournaments, and it is sometimes frustrating to have to gamble so much instead of playing good, usually when it gets to heads up there is no time left, the blinds are at 4k and 8k the blind rounds go down to 5 minutes, and there are not enough chips on the table to play at that level.
do you understand what I mean now?
like I said I go for the social aspect, of hanging out with my friends, playing pool, and having some laughs, not to play stellar poker.

Not suggesting you guys adopt our blind structure, but what do you think about it?
And if I understand it correctly, you define stellar poker more by how the total of the group plays rather than just yourself.
